17 juni: Dokrijk - The City is Dead / Splish Splash Hardcore Fest #1

THE CITY IS DEAD x DOKRIJK
In coöperation with Stormkop
SPLISH SPLASH HC #1
E. TOWN CONCRETE (US)
“1-9-9-6 it began, spawning a king, dawning a reign.” A reign that is known as the legendary E.Town Concrete. Hailing from the urban streets of Elizabeth, NJ, the band took over the New Jersey hardcore scene in the late '90s with their unique mix of hardcore, metal, and hip-hop backed by emotional lyrics about the trials and tribulations of growing up and dealing with hard times.
They played shows extensively in the late '90s, packing clubs throughout NJ and fueling mosh pits up and down the East Coast while gaining a loyal following throughout the country. Though E.Town Concrete never really gaining the credit and prominence they wanted and deserved as a band, they still sealed their legendary status in the history books of the NJHC scene.
THE FLEX (UK)
Ten years is a lifetime in Hardcore Punk. A band’s ability to traverse such a lengthy stay is a testament to their dedication to this thing of ours, which in and of itself is commendable. Remaining sonically relevant and engaging ever younger audiences is another beast altogether, and a far more difficult feat to achieve. Somehow, The Flex have managed both. Not only are they the defining band of the New Wave of British Hardcore movement of the 2010’s, not to mention the last band from this original wave still left but they continue to trudge on with unrelenting power, orchestrating live madness wherever they roll through.

PRESSURE PACT (NL)
"Well it was a great time in Eindhoven tonight. Killer show, a lot of great people. The only thing that pisses me off is the opening band fucking stole all our beer. So you motherfuckers are assholes … and I’d like to thank everybody else, but you guys are dickheads and you will never be playing with us again."

INSTRUCTOR
Straight from the heart of downtown Bruxelles comes Instructor, a band that formed out of a group of friends who have been working hard to grow a local DIY scene centred around the Cobra Jaune Club. Instructor sound like they got together in an alleyway and made some instruments out of garbage cans to play Breakdown’s ‘87 Demo and Kickback’s Cornered LP. As hardcore gets more and more polished, the truly meat-and-potatoes variety is becoming a rare sight, but that’s exactly what you get with Instructor, putting Brussels HC back on the map!

PHIZ (GER)
First time in Belgium for this Düsseldorf outfit. Raging hardcore punk which should please every kind of freak on the scale. From ANTI-CIMEX to WARTHOG, there s something in it for everyone. Unapologetic, dark and demoralizing – just the sound we deserve.
